Ucayali Wells is dedicated to raising funds to assist peoples of the Peruvian Amazon in their search for potable water and modern communication techniques. The Shipibo of the Ucayali River of eastern Peru are the center of focus here, although we hope that other peoples of the Amazon and elsewhere in Peru may utilize these gifts.  Although exact statistics are not available, large numbers of people, especially infants and the elderly, are increasing at risk from bacteria and chemicals in the river.  Probably 75% or better of the estimated 40,000 Shipibo living on or around the Ucayali River do not have access to potable water.

We are working to provide for the drilling of simple pipe wells to supply potable water to hamlets and villages along the Ucayali in eastern Peru.  Modern communication apparatus, in the form of telephone and world-wide-web linkup, is also extremely desirable.
